January 28, 2025 - Independence Week planning group met to go share updates. The 5th Connecticut Regiment presented options for educational reenactors (https://www.5cr.org/). Then, The Litchfield Coordinating Committee met for the 10th time to focus on planning the event planning resources and workshop for extended partners in February/March.
November 26, 2024 - Litchfield Coordinating Committee's ninth meeting focused on how the committee can support partners in planning events.
October 29, 2024 - A Community Convening was held at the History Museum to share progress on plans for Independence Week as well as a marketing toolkit.
October 22, 2024 - Litchfield presents to other town leads as part of a CT State Am250 Commission Town Committee call.
October 10, 2024 - Litchfield Coordinating Committee receives approval as an affiliate of the State America 250 Commission.
September 24, 2024 - The Independence Week planning group met followed by the Litchfield Coordinating Committee's eighth meeting to review an outline of the Marketing Toolkit and to plan the next Community Convening on October 22, 2024.
August 20, 2024 - The Independence Week group met to update the draft schedule of events for June 26 - July 5, 2026.
July 23, 2024 - Litchfield Coordinating Committee's seventh meeting, reviewed draft values statement and clarified that sub-committees will hold affinity group meetings to engage others in the community in conversations about funding and developing a marketing plan.
June 18, 2024 - The Independence Week group met again and started drafting a schedule of events for June 28 - July 5, 2026.
May 24, 2024 - The winning logo was announced! Congratulations to Ash Royer.
May 22, 2024 - Litchfield Coordinating Committee's sixth meeting, planned roll-out of winning logo, and goals for the "Day-Of" affinity group meeting which occurred directly afterwards. Participants renamed the group to the Independence Week group.
March 26, 2024 - Litchfield Coordinating Committee's fifth meeting, reviewed logo contest submissions and planned "Day-Of" meeting.

November 28, 2023 - Litchfield Coordinating Committee's third meeting. Finalized rules / timing for the logo contest Third Community Convening followed where we shared and received feedback about the Mission, Vision, Website and logo contest.
November 25, 2023 - A tree honoring the 250th Anniversary of the Boston Tea Party was donated to the Oliver Wolcott Library Festival of Trees.
October 13, 2023 - The Mary Floyd Tallmadge Chapter, Inc created a Scarecrow in the Meadow of a Rev. War era woman protesting the 1773 Tea Act including a QR code to this website.
September 26, 2023 - Litchfield Coordinating Committee's second meeting. Finalized LCC Vision and Mission.
September 12, 2023 - Litchfield Historical Society kick-off event "It’s Never Too Early: Researching for America’s 250th!"
July 10, 2023 - Litchfield Coordinating Committee for America's 250th held it's first meeting. Clarified purpose and created subcommittees; finance, communications and events coordination. Discussed state themes and potential local themes; the land, the people and the town today.
May 30, 2023 - Second Community Convening reviewed feedback from area organization boards and discussed committee structure. Follow up survey allowed representatives to select for which level of engagement they were ready.
March 15, 2023 - First Community Convening (day after snow storm) 46 people from 35 organizations discussed the overview, brainstormed ideas and agreed to take information back to their respective boards for discussions about ideas and decisions about preliminary levels of engagement.
February 2023 - 1:1 outreach to leaders in town who would likely be key partners in planning.
January 2023 - Draft overview timeline and infographics shared with Litchfield Patriots members at its annual meeting for input.
October 2022 - Litchfield Board of Selectman voted to endorse Litchfield Patriots, Inc. to convene and coordinate plans.
June 2022 - Members of Litchfield Patriots, Inc. approached First Selectman Raap to explore plans for Litchfield's committee.
